Some cities you visit, and some you fall in love with. Udaipur is firmly the second kind. Framed by shimmering lakes, marble palaces and the soft brown Aravalli hills, it earns its name as the City of Lakes at every turn. We packed three slow, beautiful days into this trip, and this vlog walks you through all of it, day by day, so you can plan your own.
Ghats, markets and a lakeside sunset
Our Udaipur trip began by checking into Storica Stays, our cosy home for the next three days. After settling in, we headed straight to the beautiful Gangaur Ghat, where the peaceful lake views made us fall for the city within minutes. From there we wandered through the vibrant local streets and markets, soaking in the colour and the easy buzz of the old town, where every lane seemed to open onto another painted doorway, a tiny shop or a lakeside view.

As the sun began to dip, we visited the iconic Bagore Ki Haveli, where the architecture and old world charm reflect Udaipur's royal past beautifully. We ended the first day on a perfect note with that lakeside dinner at Ambrai, looking straight across the water at the illuminated City Palace. Warm lamplight, a soft breeze off the lake and palaces lighting up one by one. There are few better ways to fall asleep in a new city.
Sunrise hike, palaces and gardens
We started early with a breathtaking sunrise hike up Bahubali Hills. The climb is short and easy, and the reward is this: still water wrapped around soft green hills, the whole valley waking up in the early light. It quickly became one of the calmest, most beautiful moments of the entire trip. Afterwards, we treated ourselves to a slow, hearty breakfast at QALAA to recharge for the day ahead.

Our next stop was the magnificent City Palace, where every corner tells a story of Udaipur's rich history. The carved balconies, courtyards and lake views from up top are stunning, so give yourself plenty of time to explore it properly. Later we drove up to Sajjangarh, the Monsoon Palace, for sweeping views over the city and its lakes, then wound down at the serene Saheliyon Ki Bari, a peaceful garden full of fountains and greenery. We closed the day with a traditional Rajasthani dinner at Khama Ghani.
Ropeway views, boating and one last coffee
On our final day we took the ropeway up to the Karni Mata Temple, enjoying incredible aerial views of Udaipur along the way. From the top, the whole city and its lakes open up beneath you. Next we went boating on Lake Pichola, easily one of the most memorable experiences of the trip, gliding past the City Palace and the havelis with a folk musician's tune drifting across the ghats.

Before saying goodbye, we explored the famous Hathipole market for some souvenirs, then wrapped it all up with snacks and coffee at Aosa Cafe. Three unforgettable days, countless memories and one beautiful city that truly lives up to its name.
Until next time, Udaipur.

Three days is the sweet spot. It gives you enough time for the City Palace, the ghats, a boat ride on Lake Pichola, a sunrise viewpoint and a bit of cafe and market wandering, without ever feeling rushed.
What is the best time to visit Udaipur?
The cooler months from October to March are the most pleasant, with soft light on the lakes and comfortable days for sightseeing. The monsoon between July and September fills the lakes and makes the city look its greenest, while April to June can get very hot.

Lake Pichola is the classic choice. The ride gives you the best angles of the City Palace, Lake Palace and the ghats, and it is especially lovely close to sunset when everything turns golden.
