Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about visiting this destination

Roughly mid June to mid October, when both the Shimla and Manali sides of the loop are open and every village on the route is accessible.

It involves long travel days at high altitude rather than serious trekking, so it is moderate in nature and manageable for most reasonably fit travellers.

Yes, the route passes through villages above 4,000 metres. Oxygen support is carried and the itinerary is paced to help the body acclimatize gradually.

Inner line permits are required for parts of the route and are arranged as part of the trip, so you do not need to handle the paperwork yourself.

A mix of homestays and guesthouses through Kinnaur and Spiti, along with a camp stay near the shores of Chandrataal.

Only BSNL works in most parts of the valley, and even that connection is patchy once you are away from Kaza.
